Development background

The Parkland Place and Wren Way development was built by Westbury Homes on farmland on the South edge of Bicester between the years 2000 and 2001.

Designed by architects K. L. Skalka the development was known as Westbury Park View during its construction. The development consists of thirty-three properties - apartments, coach houses and town houses -  in a contemporary - some say slightly nautical - style. It is a unique development and a striking landmark at the south-east entrance to the historic market town of Bicester.

As new-build properties the first apartment sold in August 2001. The remainder sold fairly quickly afterwards. The last property to sell was the duplex penthouse.

The apartments rise above their own landscaped water features and command views over the extensive parkland area created by Westbury Homes for the benefit of the development and residents of Bicester.

The apartments are constructed with curvaceous lines of crisp render and brickwork sweeping through 180-degrees, allowing its windows and balconies as many views over the surrounding area as possible.

There are twenty-three apartments in the main building of which three have three-bedrooms - one of these is the exclusive duplex penthouse. The penthouse has amongst its features a spiral staircase and a roof garden. The other twenty apartments have two bedrooms. All but one of the apartments have en-suite bathrooms. All apartments are fitted out with high quality fixtures and fittings in the kitchens and bathrooms and feature full or 'Juliet' style balconies. Six apartments have garages.

There are also 4 one-bedroom coach houses. These are separate from the main building and are also fitted out to a high standard. These also have garages.

The apartments and coach houses are leasehold properties. There are also two further leasehold properties on the development being numbers 28 Parkland Place and number 1 Wren Way which are one and the same building.

On Wren Way there are four three-bedroom town houses. These are freehold properties and each has its own garden and garage.

The development has ample private parking and a pleasant south-facing communal garden.

All-in-all, Parkland Place and Wren Way are a stylish, peaceful and pleasant place to live.
